LLOYDS BRITISH GEARED UP FOR BRANDS HATCH, WORLD SUPERBIKE CHAMPIONSHIP
30th July 2008

Jentin Racing/Lloyds British and rider Simon Andrews are
making final preparations for their entry as a wild card into
the Brands Hatch round of the 2008 Hannspree World
Superbike championship on Sunday, August 3.
Andrews rode the Lloyds British backed Yamaha R1 to an
excellent season best result of fifth in his previous outing at
Oulton Park in the British Superbike championship, following
up with a solid sixth place in race two and is confident he
can produce yet another strong performance in each of the
two 25-lap World Superbike races at the Kent circuit on
Sunday.
The 23-year-old Evesham rider is looking forward to making his debut on the world stage and is eager for the weekend to begin so he can make the most of the opportunity to compete against the world’s best riders
Bernie Toleman – Team Manager
The whole team are really determined to make the very best of this chance. We have had some World Superbike experience before having run twice as a wild card with James Ellison back in 04. However, things move on and we are by no means underestimating the challenge ahead but Simon Andrews is riding really well for us at the moment and there has been some tremendous effort within the team to bring the bike to full World SBK spec’ in a very short space of time. Our existing backers, particularly Lloyds British, have dug a little deeper to enable us to take up this chance and we certainly do not intend to let
them down.
Simon Andrews
I have been training hard and the team are sorting a completely new engine for Brands Hatch so I am excited about the event. I
have competed in the European Superstock championship in the past; so I have been in the World Superbike paddock before. I am now beginning to find success in BSB but WSB is where I want to be in the future so I am aiming for a points scoring finish in each race on Sunday.
I will be up against some really world class riders including ex-MotoGP guys like Max Biaggi and Carlos Checa so I need to be
realistic as to my chances. I will be going out there on Sunday and giving my best for the Jentin/Lloyds British team.
Free practice is set for Friday morning with first qualifying later in the day followed by final qualifying and Superpole on
Saturday.
Race one is scheduled for a start at noon on Sunday, August 3 with the second 25-lap race due on track at 3.30pm. British Eurosport live coverage is from 11am to 5pm or alternatively live coverage can be enjoyed on line at www.worldsbk.

LLOYDS BRITISH YAMAHA CELEBRATE SEASON BEST RESULTS AT BSB CHAMPIONSHIP OULTON PARK ROUND 7
22nd July 2008

The whole Jentin Racing/Lloyds British team celebrated a season-best
performance by Simon Andrews who rode two fantastic races to secure a
fifth and sixth place finish in round seven of the Bennetts British Superbike
championship at Oulton Park on Sunday to consolidate his ninth place in the
overall championship standings on 90 points.
Andrews produced his best qualifying position of the season and started the two
British Superbike races from the middle of the second row.
Free practice was run in mixed weather conditions with both the sessions on
Friday unfortunately disrupted by rain, never the less Andrews shrugged of the
weather problem and put in some strong laps to finish in 10th place after
running near the front of the field throughout both 50-minute sessions.
Saturdays final free practice was again run in wet conditions and with nothing to be gained from the experience Andrews sat it
out in the garage preferring to wait for the sole qualifying period later in the day where the forecast was for dry weather!
On a drying track, but with the threat of rain always present, Andrews posted a string of consistently fast laps to complete his
qualifying in an excellent sixth place for a second row start to the two 18-lap Bennetts British Superbike races on Sunday.
BERNIE TOLEMAN - TEAM MANAGER
We came here from Mallory Park where we had a pretty good pair of results with seventh in each race. We have been gradually
improving as the year has gone on. In both the first two practice sessions on Friday we spent time working on the electronics on
the number one bike and in qualifying Simon really put it together and we qualified sixth which is a fabulous result for us. I am
pretty sure I am right in saying that this is our best qualifying position since we started in Superbikes.
We still have quite a lot of work to do on the bikes and certainly hope we can improve further as the year goes on. It’s hats
off to Simon for what he has done today.
As the first of the two 18-lap affairs got underway Andrews held station in sixth place and gradually pulled clear of the pursuing
pack of riders behind him. But when fellow Yamaha rider Karl Harris fell he moved up to fifth place, going on to complete the
race in a fine fifth position, some 5.8 seconds ahead of pole setter Cal Crutchlow.
Encouraged by this fine performance, Andrews went out in race two with high hopes for a repeat performance. But his race was
nearly over when he had a big moment at Old Hall Bend at the start of lap two. Andrews tussled with the R1 Yamaha and amazingly
managed to keep it upright but lost seven places in the process.
A monumental fight-back followed which saw Andrews regain his position. He forged past Palmer at Old Hall on lap three and
repeated the move two laps later on Scott Smart to move up into ninth position and chase after Michael Rutter passing him before
the end of the lap.Andrews was in scintillating form and after passing both Harris and Laverty went on to pull a small gap and
consolidate sixth place where he remained until the chequered flag.
SIMON ANDREWS
It’s been a good weekend for the team. Our goals for the year were to be top five and we finished fifth and sixth
today so we are slowly creeping up the championship and not far off it. We go to World Superbikes at Brands Hatch next, where
our times put us in the top 10, with the amount of good quality riders this year I think if we come away with points we will be
really happy.
BERNIE TOLEMAN - TEAM MANAGER
Fifth in race one was an excellent result for us - it equals the team’s best result of a couple of years ago and sixth in the second
race, which again we are really pleased with. Simon had quite a moment at the end of lap two in race two which dropped him
a fair way down the field but he fought back hard to finish sixth. So after a qualification of sixth and then fifth and sixth in the
two races in anyone’s terms is an excellent weekend’s work. The way everyone in our team has worked has been just incredible;
we seem to be going from strength to strength.
Obviously we are really looking forward to the World Superbike event at Brands Hatch in two weeks time and certainly hope we
can keep the momentum going there.
We would very much like to make Superpole if we can as it gets quite a bit of TV coverage and we have been fortunate to bring in
some additional sponsorship to go with the Lloyds British title sponsorship for the event. If we can make Superpole we can give
all our sponsors some good television coverage and we are looking for a strong finish in both races.

Solid Results for Andrews
1st July 2008
The Lloyds British Jentin Racing secured some solid results this weekend at Mallory Park, rider Simon Andrews gained two strong seventh places finishes in the sixth round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship. At one stage in race two Andrews was battling hard with the factory riders for a good podium position.
The 25-year-old qualified in 13th position on the grid, it was a dramatic qualifying session for Andrews as he was shown the black and orange flag mid way through qualifying and the youngster was forced to pull in, which lost him valuable track time. On the small 1.4-mile circuit it is difficult to get a clear track during qualifying and this set back lost Andrews vital time. After checking the bike thoroughly no problem was found and Andrews continued with his challenge for a good grid position.
Starting on the fourth row was always going to be difficult for him to carve his way through the field but two stunning starts saw him fighting hard which eventually turned into two very solid point scoring positions. Andrews gained two places at the end of the opening lap in race one and was locked in a fierce battle throughout the race with Billy McConnell and Tristan Palmer, finally finishing in seventh place.
Race two proved very exciting for Andrews and the Jentin Racing team, with rain showers prior to the second race, tyre choice proved vital, running an intermediate front and rear Andrews was pleased with his choice and ready to race. As the light turned green for the 30-lap race Andrews got a flying start and was up to 8th after the opening lap. By lap five Andrews had passed Championship leader Shane Byrne and was sitting in fourth place and looking eager for a podium, by lap nine Andrews had moved into a comfortably second position and was looking to gain a positive result at the end of the 30 laps. Sadly for him the tyres began to wear and the factory bikes took advantage, Andrews held a solid podium position up to lap 18 and was unfortunate not to have finished higher in the overall standings.
An extremely pleased Andrews said "We're definitely getting there and I'm really pleased with the results that I got for myself and also the team today. I have equalled my best result to date and I know things are moving forward, it was a great feeling running up at the front but I just had a feeling that the factory boys would get the better of me in the closing stages of the race. I hope we can carry this form through the rest of the season and I'd like to thank the entire Jentin Racing team for working so hard throughout the weekend. We have a few weeks off now so hopefully things will continue this way at Oulton Park."

Consistent Results for Andrews
17th June 2008

Simon Andrews and the Lloyds British backed Jentin racing team scored another two solid points scoring results at Snetterton Circuit this weekend. Andrews gained a 10th and eighth place respectively from his 11th place qualifying position. Andrews is now lying in a healthy tenth place in the overall Championship standings.
The 25-year-old improved on his times in every session and by the final practice session was up to sixth place and feeling confident for a good qualifying session and two good races. However a short time into the main qualifying session the heavens opened and the track became extremely wet and slippery. Having only completed 13 laps, Andrews had to be content with 11th place on the grid.
The youngster got a good start in the first race but was blocked into the first corner and was sitting in 15th position after the opening lap. Digging deep Andrews pushed hard to work his way back through the field and aim for a top ten finish. Ten riders finished the race within a second of each other and it was the fight for eighth place, Andrews fought through to tenth and was eager to do better in race two.
After extremely heavy rain showers before race two the race was delayed for nearly an hour whilst the Marshals ensured the track was in a safe condition. This allowed the teams the opportunity to get the bikes set up for a wet race. Once proceedings finally got under way and the race was cut short to 15-laps Andrews got a good start and was away with the front runners. Fighting hard with factory Suzuki rider Tom Sykes for seventh place the factory rider surged to the line 0.3 ahead of Andrews.
Andrews commented "I'm pleased with the results I got today; I had a really bad start in race one and lost a few places by the end of the first lap so I had my work cut out for the rest of the day. I was much better off the line in the second race and got away with the front boys, the bike felt the best it's felt in the wet and I think we're really beginning to make some big progress. I'd like to thank the entire Jentin team for working so hard over the weekend and hopefully we'll be able to improve at the remaining races."

Tough Weekend for Jentin Racing
15th May 2008

There was certainly a very mixed weekend for the Lloyds British backed Jentin Racing team and their rider Simon Andrews at the rescheduled Brands Hatch round. After the cancellation of the opening Bennetts British Superbike round back in April due to heavy snow the meeting was rescheduled for a shorter two day event this weekend, 10th and 11th May.
In scorching hot conditions Andrews gained a solid ninth place position in race one and was very unlucky to crash out of the second 20-lap race whilst battling for a top placing. Having qualified in seventh place at the opening round he was promoted to sixth on the grid after Karl Harris was missing due to injury.
He gained a brilliant start in race one and was third into the first corner and fourth after the opening lap. Michael Laverty crashed out in front of Andrews at Druids seeing him step back up to third position and fighting with the factory riders. He was hounded on lap three by the factory Ducati's of Leon Camier and Shakey Byrne and dropped back to fifth place. Holding the position for a number of laps he was beginning to struggle with tyre grip and dropped back to ninth, which he held to the chequered flag. The second race saw Andrews in a good position in the opening laps but he lost the front end on the exit to Druids corner on lap 13, an unfortunate end once again for the youngster.
The 25-year-old from Evesham said "I'm gutted again as I've not managed to finish both races yet in the three rounds that we've had. I know the team have been working really hard and I know we will eventually get to where we want to be but I keep having DNF's and it's not helping my Championship position. We had a few small problems with the bike this weekend and with the shorter sessions it made it difficult to get it 100% for the races. I know things will improve and I still feel confident that we can get good results and that we are moving in the right direction. I want to be out there and I want to be a serious contender, fingers crossed for us for Donington in a couple of weeks time."
Team Manager Bernie Toleman commented "Overall it has clearly been a disappointing weekend but there is no doubt in my mind that everything is in place to recover from this. Every race we have finished has been inside the top ten and there is a long season still ahead. We are working extremely hard on some development work that should be in place for Donington in two weeks time where our sole aim is for a strong result in both races.''

Solid Seventh for Andrews
6th May 2008

The Lloyds British backed Jentin Racing team left Oulton Park with one solid seventh place result after Evesham based rider Simon Andrews crashed out of the wet first race at Shell Oils Corner. However Andrews bounced right back from this disappointment to finally gain seventh place in the second action packed Bennetts British Superbike race at the 2.7-mile circuit.
In glorious sunshine on Saturday, Andrews and the team found a very good dry set up on the Yamaha and finished seventh and eighth in the two free practice sessions. Heavy over night rain continued into Saturday and the team worked hard to find a comfortable wet set up on the bike, but not quite getting it as far as they would have liked. After a few mechanical problems during the day Andrews upped his game in the qualifying session and put the team in a respectable 10th position on the grid.
The rain began for the first race just as the lights turned green and before the completion of the opening lap the race was red-flagged. It then became something of a mad panic for the teams who had to change to wet tyres/settings in a very limited amount of time to comply with the quick restart procedure. Unfortunately the race was short lived for Andrews who crashed out while making good progress through the field in very difficult conditions.
Andrews gained a steady start in the second race and was locked in a battle with Scott Smart on the Kawasaki for a number of laps. Making a tidy pass on Karl Harris moved Andrews through to tenth place. Crutchlow and Sykes crashed out of the race and Leon Haslam was later excluded from the results after the incident between himself and Sykes, promoting the Jentin rider to seventh place. Andrews is now 11= in the overall Championship standings and looking forward to Brands Hatch this forthcoming weekend.
Andrews commented "I'm gutted to have crashed in the first race but I'd struggled in the wet all weekend as we couldn't find a set-up that we were really happy with. I still had a few mechanical problems in the second race but knew I had to get the points and I rode a safe race to ensure I finished and got in the points. Hopefully Brands Hatch will run a bit more smoothly for us next weekend."
Team Manager Bernie Toleman said "The whole team have, as usual, worked incredibly hard all weekend and of course we were really disappointed after the race one DNF. However Simon really delivered for us in race two, where despite some mechanical issues we ended up seventh. We start from row two at Brands Hatch this coming weekend and lets all hope for better weather."

Eighth for Jentin at Thruxton
23rd April 2008

The Lloyds British Jentin Racing team secured a confidence building eighth place at Thruxton this weekend (18th - 20th April), rider Simon Andrews gained a strong top ten finish in the Bennetts British Superbike Championship but was forced to retire from the second race with a clutch problem.
Andrews started the season well at Brands Hatch a couple of weeks ago and was unable to turn his strong qualifying position into a race result after the race was cancelled due to snow. Andrews carried on his form this weekend at Thruxton and was consistently running within the top ten during free practice and qualifying. He dropped to 13th on the grid in the qualifying session after struggling slightly with grip in the wet conditions. He was eager to achieve two strong finishes in the two 20-lap races on his Yamaha R1.
He secured a fantastic start in race one and was sitting in eighth place after the first lap and had managed to gain five places. Andrews defended the position well and held off the attacks from Michael Laverty and Stuart Easton and gained a sturdy eighth place as he crossed the finish line. Race two and Andrews did not manage to complete the first lap and was forced to pull into the pits and sit the race out.
Andrews commented "I'm a bit gutted not to have been able to get two good results as I was pleased with my first race finish. I was really happy at Brands with the way everything was going and was feeling confident when I came to Thruxton. I really struggled with the Pirelli's through the weekend at Thruxton with the changing weather conditions; I think they just take a bit of getting used to and knowing how to set the bike up accordingly to get the best out of them. I'd never ridden in the wet on them and I was really surprised at how much grip they gave me but I was a little wary on how much I could push them. Hopefully things will be better at Oulton in a couple of weeks time and we'll get some more good results."
Team owner Bernie Toleman said "It's been quite a difficult weekend for the team but we have definitely learnt a lot and we now have more information to take to Oulton Park. It was a shame about the clutch in the second race but it would be nice to be back near the top end at Oulton and get some good results under our belt. Thruxton is a very fast circuit and I believe the eighth in race one was a good result as the factory riders will always do well there, as they have that little bit of extra power. Simon likes Oulton so hopefully the team will be able to get two positive results there."

Snow Stops Simon
23rd April 2008

Lloyds British backed Jentin Racing Team were disappointed today, Sunday 6th April when the first round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship was forced to be cancelled due to six inches of snow hitting South East Circuit of Brands Hatch. Rider Simon Andrews was unfortunate not to be able to race, as strong performances from him throughout the weekend were showing that he was able to mix it with the factory backed teams at the front of the pack.
The race has now been rescheduled for the 10th and 11th May back at Brands and Andrews will keep the qualifying position he secured yesterday, Saturday 5th April of seventh position on the grid. Andrews was running strong throughout practice and in the final practice session on Saturday morning he was sitting comfortably in fourth place.
With very little testing time under his belt he was pleased with his achievement saying "It's a real shame that the race was cancelled as I was really looking forward to trying to get some good results for the team. We've had a few issues throughout the weekend yet we still managed to set good times so I'm really pleased with that knowing that there is still more to come. We've done very little testing so we had a lot to try and sort out at Brands Hatch, we made some huge steps forward which is a good sign and hopefully it will continue through the year. Let's hope that the weather is kind to us for Thruxton and that we can get on with some racing."
Team Manager Bernie Toleman said "It's been a strong weekend and good start for the team, we were looking forward to the two races on Sunday but sadly it had to be called off for safety reasons, understandably. We have just received the new Yamaha's so we are finding out what aspects we can change on it to suit Simon's riding style in the aim to score some consistent results through the year. Thruxton is in a few weeks time and hopefully we will have made a few more alterations to the bike before then and we're eager to get some good Championship points under our belt."
Qualifying Positions to be carried forward to May 11th at Brands Hatch: -

Guadix Test
7th March 2008

The Jentin-Lloyds British Superbike Team has just completed six days testing at the Pirelli Tyre Test in Guadix southern Spain. Guadix is approx forty miles north of Granada and was an ideal test circuit for the new rule of single tyre supplier for British Superbike.
For the next three years both Superbike and Supersports will be using only Pirelli tyres selecting only from different compounds making competition much closer and even more exciting for the fans!
Following a schedule developed by the team manager Bernard Toleman, times improved consistently each day over the first three days. This put the Jentin-Lloyds British team in pole position but with the arrival of the factory teams, this gradually eroded our advantage but not by a great deal.
With the arrival of the factory teams it became clear just how much Jentin-Lloyds British had improved on last year with rider Simon Andrews continuing to keep lap times consistently in the low 1:14s making a 1:13:80 on the new engine with only a standard gear box.
The test was a complete success for the team with smiles and sunshine in abundance. The end result was although the Factory Ducati’s were not at the test, the other factory bikes were, but still not that much faster than us. We were between fourth and fifth fastest at the end of the test with yet more to come, however we will be keeping that for the race season!

JENTIN/LLOYDS BRITISH ANNOUNCE 2008 PLANS
23rd January 2008

Jentin Racing are pleased to confirm they have retained the services of Simon Andrews for the forthcoming 2008 British Superbike season and, after teaming up with Lloyds British Testing Ltd midway through the 2007 season, are now to be known as Jentin Racing/Lloyds British.
The Gloucester based team are to run 23-year-old Simon Andrews on two 08 Jentin Yamaha R1s in the British Superbike championship and have high hopes for success this year.
Bernie Toleman, Jentin Racing/Lloyds British team manager:
We secured several top ten finishes in 2007 and with two new bikes currently being built will be looking to further the teams success in the new 2008 season.
I am delighted that Simon has agreed to remain with the team for 2008 and I am looking forward to working with him once again. Ongoing team/rider continuity is even more
important this year with the change of tyre manufacturer and also the changes to engine specification. The team ran very successfully in 04 on Pirelli tyres and I have every confidence
we can adjust quickly to the new tyres and secure some top results.
Simon Andrews
"I am really pleased to be riding for Jentin Racing/Lloyds British again this year. The new tyre rule will be good for the championship, as it will put teams on more of a level playing field. Our new R1 looks fantastic and I can't wait to get on board and put it through its paces".
Ian White, Managing Director Lloyds British Testing Ltd
Lloyds British are delighted to be associated with Jentin Racing once again. We are looking forward to the new season and anticipate that with the new bikes and the skills of rider
Simon Andrews we have everything in place to become a major player in the 2008 British Superbike championship.
Along with several other British Superbike teams, Simon Andrews and Jentin Racing/Lloyds British will take part in the Pirelli/BSB test at Guadix in early March prior to the Snetterton test over Easter in preparation for the new season that kicks off at Brands Hatch on April 6.

Lloyds British takes equity share in Jentin Racing
27th July 2007

Lloyds British has taken an equity share in Jentin Racing and the team will complete the remainder of the 2007 British Superbike Season as 'Jentin Racing / Lloyds British'.
"By taking an equitable stake in Jentin Racing rather than taking the advertising route we can really help to shape the future, allowing the team to fully focus on contesting the championship," explained Ian White, chairman of Lloyds British. "We believe that all the components are now in place to become one of the great teams in the British Superbike Series! We certainly have the right rider in Simon Andrews, which together with the teams existing and well proven infrastructure means we have an excellent starting point. This combination with Lloyds British commercial expertise will undoubtedly enable a rapid expansion and strengthening of the Jentin Racing brand over the coming months."
Since the change has come midway through the British Superbike season, the team has decided not to compete at Mondello Park or Knockhill - electing instead to commence testing of the '07 R1 Yamahas with Mountune engines and Pectel electronics.
